Apat na tula (Pavlova), atbp

Salamat kay Shane Carreon sa pagbabahagi ng [tula ni Pavlova] na pinamagatang "Heaven is Not Verbose: A Notebook | Why poetry is like earthworms, thought is like cud, and understanding like insanity," na ginusto ko sanang isalin kaso hanggang "Hindi Masalita ang Langit: Isang Kwaderno | Kung bakit parang bulate ang pagtula, parang nginangatang damo ang pag-iisip, at parang kahibangan ang pag-intindi." Sa madaling salita, hanggang pamagat lang ako. So, naghanap akong ibang tula ni Pavlova na medyo mas hindi mahaba at mas hindi mahirap isalin, angkinin, balahurain nang hindi sinasadya, anuman, kung anuman ito sa iyo:

Sa palagay ko taglamig na kapag dumating siya.
Mula sa di-matagalang pamumutla ng landas
susulpot ang tuldok, sa sobrang itim manlalabo ang paningin,

hinahalintulad sa kanyang pagkawala ang kanyang pagdating,
sa mahabang, mahabang panahon, mananatili itong isang tuldok.
Batik ng alikabok? Alab sa mata? At niyebe,

magkakamal siya ng laki at tatlong dimensyon,

Ito ang hangganan, hindi na siya makakalapit. Pero siya'y nagpapahiwatig,
ngayo'y masyado nang matindi para sukatin.

The IYAS Creative Writing Workshop of the University of St. La Salle (USLS), Bacolod City, has selected 15 Fellows for 2012, out of 81 applicants from the country and abroad. The Fellows for Fiction are Maria Amparao Warren, Brylle B. Tabora (English), Chuckie Perez Manio, and Anthony de la Cruz (Filipino), Daryl Nino Toring Jabil (Cebuano), Fr. Reynaldo Villanoy Jr. (Hiligaynon). The Fellows for Poetry are Miro Frances D. Capili and Ramon Enrico Damasing (English), Early Sol Gadong and GL John Clavel Haro (Hiligaynon), Mariane A.R.T. Abuan (Filipino), Gratian Paul R. Tidor and CD Borden (Cebuano). Fellows for Drama are: Fundador Tipon III (Hiligaynon) and Mario Mendez (Filipino).

IYAS will interface with the Kritika National Workshop on Art and Cultural Criticism sponsored by the De La Salle University Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center (BNSCWC) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) which will also be held on the same dates at USLS.

The interface activities are: film screening of “Oro, Plata, Mata” by Peque Gallaga; a craft and reading lecture by Dr. Stuart Cooke; and an introduction to Negrense culture through trips to cultural landmarks in Talisay, Silay, and Victorias cities.

The IYAS Workshop Director is Dr. Marjorie Evasco and the panelists for this year are Dr. Genevieve Asenjo, Dr. Ronald Baytan, Prof. Danilo M. Reyes, Ms. Grace Monte de Ramos, Mr. John Iremil Teodoro, and guest panelist Dr. Cooke from Australia. IYAS Founder Dr. Elsie Coscolluela also sits in the panel.

The IYAS Creative Writing Workshop is co-sponsored by the BNSCWC and the NCCA, and will be held on April 22 – 28, 2012 at the Balay Kalinungan Complex of the USLS, Bacolod City.

The DLSU Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) award eleven fellowships for KRITIKA 2012: National Workshop on Art and Cultural Criticism, which will be held at the University of St. La Salle (USLS) in Bacolod on April 22-28, 2012.

The workshop will focus on critical writing in the following arts: literature, visual arts, architecture, film, and multi-art. It is envisioned to give young scholars and critics a forum where they can discuss their work and concerns with established art critics. The fellows are: Marie Rose Arong (literature), John Barrios (literature), Patrick Campos (multi-art), Feorillo Petronilo Demeterio III (visual arts), Rene Luis Mata (architecture), Chuckberry Pascual (multi-art), Jay Jomar Quintos (literature), Jaime Oscar Salazar (visual arts), Oscar Serquiña, Jr. (literature), Christian Tablazon (film), and Michael Carlo Villas (literature). Rolando Tolentino, BNSCWC Associate for Film, is workshop director. The distinguished panel of art critics includes Paulo Alcazaren (architecture), Isagani R. Cruz (literature), Cid Reyes (visual arts), and Jose Victor Torres (cultural history).

This event is in cooperation with USLS-Bacolod and supported by NCCA.
